Listed Grade ii Farmhouse Restoration

There are many beautiful original features, some times hidden in period properties. The window seat in this photograph was restored using elm board from the attic. A sensitive approach gives the best results. Avoid the temptation to introduce modern building materials and methods. Keep old doors, make skilful repairs, replace old floor boards only when they have clearly past their working life. Use soft plaster and avoid perfectly flat finishes.
